In my experience, I can spot a superior employee if he/she initiates tasks that would add to the the achievement of the overall goal. Normally, a good performer will just do what’s expected and what he/she’s been told. A superior performer will always exceed expectations. I monitor performance based on weekly tasks and achievements. I have a performance matrix that I use to monitor my team’s accomplishments.
